About

The Italian National Honor Society meets weekly to participate in Italian cultural activities, to organize and participate in philanthropic work, and to travel to Italian cultural events hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute or the Italian Cultural Center, as well as universities like the University of Chicago. The Italian National Honor Society hosts the Festa Italiana, a celebration which highlights the work of all Italian students (open to the entire community) and inducts its new members, and an Italian Immersion Day for area high schools at which participating students may only speak Italian throughout the day.

Club Highlights

The Italian National Honor Society recognizes academic excellence. To be invited to become a member, a student must have an overall grade-point-average of 3.2, must have an A-/B+ average in Italian, and must be registered in Italian IV or AP Italian Language and Culture. Our association hosts a highly-attended Festa Italiana, works with the Italian students at Union Ridge, helps organize and host an Italian Immersion Day at the Italian Cultural Institute, goes on field trips to attend cultural events, and works on various community service projects. This year, we raised over $4,000.00 to help the earthquake victims in Italy. Because of our work, we will get to meet Master Chef Mario Batali, The Chew host and owner of EATALY.
