Dear RHS Students,
The RHS Drama Club is holding auditions for the fall play starting Wednesday, August 21 at 3:30PM. If you cannot attend on Wednesday, there is an additional day to audition on Thursday, August 22 at 3:30PM.
This year's fall play is called Mockingbird. It is a play by Julie Jensen, based on a novel written by Kathryn Erskine. It tells the story of 11-year-old Caitlin, an artist on the autism spectrum. Caitlin's brother Devon is her best friend and helps her navigate the neuro-typical worlds around her, but she has to adapt when he is tragically killed in a school shooting.
Drama Club is searching for students interested in creating a unique and special production. Interested students are encouraged to arrive by 3:30 either on Wednesday or Thursday. The audition process will explain the approach to difficult and challenging subject matter, the importance of working collaboratively as an acting ensemble, and will involve a couple of short cold readings.
If you are interested, but have more questions, please contact Mr. Smith at
jsmith@ridgenet.org, or stop by his room 150 before or after school.
For your convenience, I have included a short sample of the script and a preview video from a Kennedy Center production from this amazing and powerful play:
